An arrest was made, and 37 pounds of suspected fentanyl pills were seized last month in a traffic stop in Meade County.
The Meade County Sheriff’s office recently reported in a press release on the morning of Jan. 17, a deputy conducted a traffic stop of a 2009 Toyota Corolla.

Sarai Barboza
Sarai is a para at Bright Start Early Learning Center, and she’s been a proud member of the Liberal community her entire life. Running in the race has always been a dream of hers, and this year, with the incredible support of her family and friends, she’s ready to make that dream a reality. Driven by their encouragement, she’s putting in the hard work by running, training, and pushing herself every day. With her eyes on the finish line, she’s more excited than ever to take on this challenge and show just what she’s made of.
Citizens of Liberal could expect to see some changes in their water bills after the next Liberal City Commission meeting this evening starting at 5:30. This evening’s meeting will be in the commission chambers at the Liberal Recreation Center at 950 S. Grant Ave.

Combs went to work in Washington, D.C. in the U.S. Department of Education. This story arose from a video made by Project Veritas with comments Combs made about the DOE and how he said it works around restrictions to withhold funds from illegal immigrants and how they are communicating without DOGE knowing.
Southwest Medical Center is proud to welcome Tanya Pittman, M.D., as the newest addition to the 15th Street Family Care Center. Dr. Pittman, a Liberal native, brings over 28 years of medical experience to the community and is now accepting new patients.
Dr. Pittman’s journey in medicine was inspired by her own health experiences in junior high, when the compassionate care she received from physicians motivated her to pursue a medical career. She earned her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas, and completed her residency at Smoky Hill Family Practice in Salina in 1996.
