EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the second in a series of stories regarding the May 19 joint meeting between the Liberal City Commission and Seward County Commission to discuss a possible buyout of the county’s portion of the 15th Street fire station.
Today’s story talks about feedback from commissioners and city and county staff. Future stories will discuss an offer from the city commission to buy out the county’s portion.
The Liberal City Commission will have a full agenda for its next meeting this evening starting at 5:30. Tonight’s meeting will be in the commission chambers at the Liberal Recreation Center at 950 S. Grant Ave.
Up first will be discussion of the waiver of liquidated damages for the Ortuño housing addition.
Those looking for some more activities for their children will have just that chance later this summer thanks to Seward County Community College.
SCCC's annual Kids College will take place Monday, July 14 through Thursday, July 17, and each day has three sessions – 8 to 9:15 a.m., 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., and then 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Kids College is for children entering first grade through eighth grade and is $25 for each session and for the whole four days. Enrollment begins June 2, and those interested in signing their children up must have a notarized form, and they also need to have their ID and a copy of their insurance card. Coordinator Sarah Thompson said there is a lot to be excited about for this year.
Those looking for housing in the area now have a new option.
Pancake Flats Apartments, located at 304 E. Pancake Blvd., officially had its ribbon cutting last week. Petra Chief Development Officer Tylan Dyer said the project has been in the works for more than a year.
