The Coronado Museum and Dorothy’s House/The Land of Oz has been a Liberal staple for multiple decades and soon, staff will be able to make some upgrades to enhance visitors’ experience.
Wednesday, representatives from the Kansas Tourism Department were on hand in Liberal to present the museum’s staff with $25,000 in grant money for the project.
The Kansas Department of Transportation announced a strategic leadership appointment, naming Ron Hall, a veteran with nearly 45 years of unparalleled experience in engineering, maintenance and district leadership, as its new Director of Field Operations.
Hall most recently served as District Six Engineer in Southwest Kansas, a position he held since 2016.
The Seward County Commission has been locked in recent discussions with Invenergy regarding wind energy production, and Tuesday evening, the Liberal City Commission got the chance to hear from Invenergy itself.
“As you all know, Invenergy is a leading independent, global developer and operator of clean energy solutions. They have approached the City of Liberal with a Transmission Easement Agreement,” Liberal City Manager Scarlette Diseker began. “In order to get the project moving, this agreement needs to be approved by the Liberal City Commission. This project will take place, regardless of the result of the county's ongoing negotiations with the company.”
Main Revelation opened its first location in Hugoton in 2019 and officially opened a Liberal location at 206 N. Kansas Ave. in August 2024.
Recently, Beth Beard and Pamela Hamlin announced they will be stepping away from the business in a statement on social media.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the last in a series of stories regarding the May 19 joint meeting between the Liberal City Commission and Seward County Commission to discuss a possible buyout of the county’s portion of the 15th Street fire station. Today’s story talks about an offer from the city commission to buy out the county’s portion.
A few final thoughts came from city and county staff before Liberal city commissioners put an offer on the board to buy Seward County’s portion of the 15th Street fire station at the May 19 joint commission meeting.
