A local restaurant experienced light smoke last Thursday morning, but the Pancake House in Liberal was declared safe about half hour after firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
Liberal Fire Department Battalion Chief Aaron Luman said in a press release, firefighters were dispatched to a reported fire around 5:30 a.m. Thursday at 640 E. Pancake Blvd.
The USD 480 school board saw most of its action near the beginning of its most recent meeting Monday evening.

Seward County Community College’s Saints Ahead Scholarship paid off for more than 50 high school students last week. Commencement ceremonies at the college recognized concurrent students’ achievements, earning certificates and associate degrees at the same time the students completed their high school diplomas.
