“I don’t know many words about teeth,” I told the dentist.

Since my husband, Peter, and I spend time in Mexico, it makes sense to get dental work done while we’re here, and I had been putting off going to the dentist. I knew I needed to get work done where my gums had receded, and the enamel no longer covered what it was supposed to. I’ve been told that over-exuberant toothbrushing contributes to this condition, so I’ve been trying to ease off. But I don’t really think my toothbrush is the cause. I’m just getting old.

It might come as a surprise to most Americans that the U.S. Department of Education did not exist until 1977, and ti was created by Jimmy Carter.

Since that time, the United States has slowly slipped into the abyss of international academia, falling from one of the best systems in the world to mediocrity.

Why were so many 2020 voters MIA in 2024?

Social media posts after the presidential election were abuzz about the disparity in the vote tally from 2020 to 2024.

Preliminary counts show President-elect Donald Trump with almost as many votes as he got in 2020, when he came up short in his reelection effort against Joe Biden. Trump appears to have 73.3 million votes now; in 2020, he won 74.2 million.

But Vice President Kamala Harris appears to have won about 12 million fewer votes than Biden did against Trump in 2020. Biden won 81.2 million votes in 2020; Harris so far has 69 million votes.

To anyone paying attention, there is no question that significant progress has been made in the City of Liberal, and credit must be given to the current Liberal City Commission and to previous City Manger Rusty Varnado.

There has been significant movement in terms of economic development, other public improvements have taken shape, and the interaction between the community and city government is at an all-time high in recent memory.
