Back when we used to have to build a lot more real estate ads than we do today, Don’s ad was a regular, and a friend of mine handled his account.
Mike sold the ads, and I built them, and we were always part of the skeleton crew that worked on Saturdays.
With the Federal Reserve recently cutting its federal funds rate target by 50 basis points to a range of 4.75 percent to 5 percent, Kansas must reassess its economic policies to prepare for the challenges ahead. Lower interest rates may offer short-term relief by reducing borrowing costs, but the continued risk of inflation demands long-term reforms. Kansas can withstand the economic uncertainty created by the Fed by state policymakers taking proactive steps to reform taxes, reduce spending, and deregulate to improve economic freedom and opportunity.
My husband, Peter, had never had a cat before we adopted Felix, and Felix is taking full advantage of this.
Peter didn’t know, for instance, that cats require tuna, right out of the can, every night at precisely 8:30 p.m. — until Felix informed him. Peter did not know that he was not permitted to be late, nor was he allowed to run out of tuna. Felix has a firm no-substitutions policy. Peter now understands this.
By the time all the votes are counted in the presidential election, which could come days or weeks after Election Day, it is quite possible Kamala Harris coasts to an easy win, or Donald Trump ends up winning in a blowout.
A more realistic outcome is a much closer race, and given the evenly split nation, that wouldn’t be surprising.
The polls are also tilting more to the latter, with Trump ahead in several polls and Harris ahead in others.
Corn harvest is ramping up across Kansas and while every field will be different, reports from across the state range from better than expected to a great crop. Prices, however, are just ugly. As the calendar marches toward October, soybean harvest and wheat planting will make already crowded schedules even busier.
In Finney County, Kyle Deaver had started shelling dryland corn. Irrigated fields are still ripening but soybeans are getting close to being harvest ready. Rain showers were a welcome benefit last week that will help with wheat planting.
