Those looking for somewhere to shop for good deals now have another option on the south side of Liberal thanks to Black Friday Sales at 920 S. Kansas Ave.
As co-owner Javier Sanchez tells it, the store has been in the works for a while.
“There are three of us owners, and we invest money in different businesses, including another one similar to Black Friday Sales. We were checking around in this area, and there's nothing like this store around here, so we decided to get the money together and make it happen,” Sanchez said. “We're always looking at different communities and looking at what their needs might be, and we decided this was one of them. We also have another project we'll be getting started on in the near future. With this building, one of the investors actually owns the mall, and he told us this space was empty. We came and looked at it and it was perfect for what we needed after we figured out exactly what type of business we wanted to have in here. We all decided this building would be perfect in terms of space and everything else, so we went for it.”
As Sanchez tells it, there will be no shortage of merchandise for people to shop, and he offered encouragement for people in the area to visit the store.
“We'll have a little bit of everything – phones, TVs, shoes, clothes, outdoor furniture, and a lot more. We have deals every day of the week except Thursday since that's when we close for restocking, and there are a lot of options people will have to choose from when they come in,” Sanchez said. “We buy overstocked items from Amazon and Target and other big box stores. For example, with spring and summer here, a lot of shopping areas are clearing out their winter stock to make room, so we buy that winter stock and resell it. I would absolutely love as many people to come in as possible, I guarantee you will find something you're looking for. It's a big store, and we've got merchandise that's much less expensive than what they'd find at Walmart or Target or one of the other big box stores. Everyone should come in and check us out.”
Sanchez said he was happy with the support seen at the store’s ribbon-cutting and hopes to see that continue in the future.
“I'm excited because stores like this will bring more shoppers to town and help the economy as a whole, which is always great. The money stays in the community and will help Liberal grow, which we're a big fan of and want to be part of,” Sanchez said. “It was amazing seeing all the people who came to the ribbon-cutting – the store was basically full that morning, which was great to see. We all worked together to get people in the doors and let people know we're ready for business, and I think the ribbon-cutting helped get us off to a good start. I'm happy we're a part of the Liberal community, I want to thank everyone who's supported us in putting everything together. We have another project coming up, and I hope it's as successful as this one, so people should keep their eyes out for that. We've already opened this store, and I hope we see customers not just from Liberal but also towns in the Oklahoma Panhandle, and maybe even some people from Dodge City and Garden City. I'd love to see this store be successful and bring a bunch of people in and help grow Liberal's economy.”
