Wayne Clifford Forward, 98, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026. 

He was born Feb. 22, 1928 in Goddard.

He graduated from Hugoton High School and joined the U.S. Navy. He served in Guam from 1946 to 1948.

He married Mary Ann Reames July 19, 1951. She survives.

He served as a church elder at Faith Lutheran Church for many years.

Survivors also include three children: Beth Elliott and husband, Fred, Mark Forward and wife, Angela, and Pamela Hickey and husband, Larry; siblings, Mildred Moser and Charles Forward; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Glenn Clifford Forward; and siblings: Maxine Phillips, Dula Hughes, Jean Coulter, and Joann Sessler.

• Private family graveside services will take place at a later date.

Fellowship with the family will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026 at the Pheasant Heaven Charities Inc. Veterans' Hall.
