Jose Matias Rodriguez, 67, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2026 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born Feb. 24, 1959 to Jesus and Joaquina P. de Rodriguez.

He shared a marriage with Maria Elena Rodriguez. She survives.

He worked at National Beef Processing Plant for 35 years.

Survivors also include his mother-in-law, Agueda Zubiate de Torres; three sons: Eddel Josue Rodriguez and wife, Susie Rodriguez, Jonathan Ontiveros, and Jose Antonio Rodriguez; three daughters, Anna Lizeth Rodriguez, Noemi Ibarra and husband, Jesus Ibarra, and Lizbeth Smollock and husband, Brett Smollock; brothers, Jesus M. Rodriguez and Francisco Rodriguez; three sisters: Celia Amparan, Hilda Rodriguez, and Magda Núñez; and grandchildren: Jesus Eddel Rodriguez and Faith Lynn Rodriguez, Hayden Grace Stegman, Alaina Rose Ibarra and Nalani Skye Ibarra, and Kayden Elijah Florence and Addalyn Fae Smollock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Rafael Torres Martinez; and grandchildren, Leonard and Santiago Rodriguez, and Elena Isabel Smollock.

Rosary will be at at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2026 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 1510 N. Calhoun Avenue in Liberal.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Liberal.

Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal.
