FOWLER – Roger D. Kreger, 73, died Friday, March 6, 2026.

He was born Dec. 23, 1952, to Victor and Velora Mae Kreger.  

He graduated from Sheridan High School in Sheridan, Wyo. in 1971.  While in high school, he was a member of National Honor Society and in four sports per year for four years. He then enrolled at Montana State University  to study medicine and entered the four year AFRPTC program. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in June, 1975, along with a B.S. degree in medical technology.  During his four years of active duty, he was stationed at Castle AFB near Merced, Calif., and at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. At Mountain Home he was CATCO, Chief Air Traffic Control Officer. He separated in 1980 at the rank of Captain.

He then returned home and continued to operate heavy equipment at Decker Coal in Decker, Mont., where he worked for 18 years. He also worked at Belle Ayr and Eagle Butte mines for 18 years.  He worked for Meade County Road and Bridge for eight years before retiring for good in late 2022. 

He was an avid big game hunter all of his life and harvested antelope, mule deer, and hunted elk all of the Bighorn Mountains. He also loved trout fishing the Madison and Gallatin Rivers and fishing for mountain trout in the streams in the Bighorn Mountains.

He was a singer all of his life with a rich baritone voice and was a member of multiple musical groups throughout his life.

He married Kim C. Sisneros while stationed at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho.  They were married for 22 years.

He met Dee and they were married in Gillette, Wyo. Later they moved to Fowler, and have been married for 20 years. She survives.

Survivors also include his son, Shane; daughter, Tavey; five stepdaughters and stepsons: Misty Corbin, Alamosa, Colo., Chanie Gregorich, Grand Junction, Colo., Toby Nevin, Fowler, Gary Nevin, Belleville, Texas, and Brad Maggart of Colorado Springs, Colo.; twin brother, Rodney and Donita Kreger, Argyle, Texas; and sister, Vicki Schroder, Ammon, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dennis Kreger Sr.; and stepson, Mark Nevin.

• Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Fowler Friends Church in Fowler, with the casket transport to Sheridan, Wyo. and burial in the Sheridan Elks Lodge Cemetery. A military burial will take place at the Sheridan Elks Cemetery put on by the Sheridan American Legion Post.

Memorials are suggested to the Fowler Friends Church Youth Group or the Fowler Friends Church Pantry in care of the funeral home.
