John Ervin Milburn, 81, died Thursday, March 12, 2026 in Johnson. 

He was born April 21, 1944 to Elver and Esletene (Ford) Milburn.

He graduated from Rolla High School and then pursued higher education at Ft. Hays State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

He married Linda Carol Mumy Aug. 13, 1965. She survives.

His hobbies reflected a life attuned to the quiet beauty of the outdoors: fly fishing, fly tying, bird watching, gardening, and his care for cows.

He also devoted time to helping the Boy Scouts.

The couple’s church life was a central part of family gatherings, attended alongside their children and grandchildren, embodying a strong spiritual foundation.

Survivors also include three daughters: Ellen Vanderark and husband, Robert (Bobby), Lana Rodriguez and husband, Benny, and Andrea Milburn-Baker; brother Charles Milburn; grandchildren: Sommar Stranghoner, Bryce Rodriguez, Lauren Daigneault, Josh Vanderark, Grace Gardner, Blake Rodriguez, Eirland Akers, Eden Svensgaard, Ashley Baker, and Ally Baker; great-grandchildren, Hunter Rodriguez and Evelynn Stranghoner, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

• Funeral services took place Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at the Rolla Methodist Church in Rolla.
