ULYSSES – Alice Jo Anne Lance, 93, died May 9, 2026. 

She was born April 27, 1933 to Walter and Alene Yohn.

She graduated Ulysses High School in 1950.

She married Harold Lance January 26, 1951. He survives.

She worked for Duckwall’s early on and then worked for Long Bell Lumberyard as their bookkeeper. Later she went to work for the Grant County Extension Office and worked there for more than 30 years. She took great pride in her work running the Grant County Fair and Grant County Spring Fling.

She was very active in the United Methodist Church in Ulysses teaching Sunday School, helping with communion and after school programs for children. She loved reading, traveling, and working puzzles.

Survivors also include children: Doug (Cindy), Denise (Bill) Wendler, and Mark (Laurie); brother, David (Pat) Yohn; grandchildren: Bryce (Rosa) Baker, Micaela (Josh) Fenwick, Anthony (Joyce) Lance, Joanna Brown, Joshua (Taylor) Lance, and Caleb Lance; seven great-grandchildren: Luke Fenwick, Eva Fenwick, Corinne Fenwick, Abby Baker, Lily Baker, Alina Lance, James Lance; and many nieces and nephews.

• Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the United Methodist Church in Ulysses, with Mark Lance and Doug Lance presiding. The service will also be live streamed on the Ulysses First United Methodist Church Facebook page.
