Julia Marilyn Thomas, 78, of Turpin, Okla., passed into Heaven Sunday, April 26, 2026 in Moore, Okla.

Marilyn was born May 3, 1947 in Hemet, Calif. to William Rollie and Alice Madelyn Gohn.

She graduated from high school in Liberal and then married the love of her life, David R. Thomas.

She worked many different types of jobs in her life to be home when the children were home. She was a nurse's aide, babysitter, school cafeteria worker, clerk, and, for more than 30 years, an optician.

Marilyn loved without judgment and served in many capacities. She used her talents for the Lord as a Sunday School teacher, children’s church teacher, and nursery worker.

She worked with the Missionettes and Heart to Heart Ladies meetings, where she wrote and performed in skits, which were very memorable.

She loved to cook big Sunday dinners and invite lots of friends and family to her house. She was beyond generous, which was evident in so many ways.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 65 years, David R. Thomas; son, Darin and wife, Jean Thomas, Waco, Texas; daughter, Julie and husband, Vance Campbell, Moore, Okla.; grandchildren: Taylor and Steven Donohue, Megan and Quentin Query, Zane Campbell, Ryan Thomas, and Reed Thomas; great-grandchildren, David James Donohue and Sophie Jade Query; and lifelong friends: Leo and Shirley McDaniel, and Ted and Darlene Hoskinson.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Rollie and Madelyn Gohn; and her sister, Lana Maureen Graham.

• Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberal.
