Steven Dewayne Lumley, 63, died May 23, 2026 in a tragic house fire.

He was born May 16, 1963 to Frank and Anita Sue (Stoker) Lumley in Moore, Okla.

He graduated from Tyrone High School in 1982.

He joined the Army the summer of 1981 and later became a truck driver. He drove proudly for Groendyke Transportation for a total of 33 years. He drove more than 1 million safe miles and earned several safety awards.

Steve's favorite title was "Papa." He loved being involved in anything the kids had going on.

He loved to cook, watch NASCAR, college football, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Survivors include son, Brad Lumley, Balko Okla.; daughter, Amanda Brown, Balko, Okla.; brothers, Randy Lumley, El Dorado, and Charlie and wife, Stacey, Bridgecreek Okla.; six grandchildren: Amerie Hinz, Wyatt Brown, Annika Hinz, Westin Brown, Addilynn Lumley, and Waylon Lumley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Johnny Lumley and Bo Lumley; sister, Peggi Franklin; and brother in-law, Casey Franklin.

• Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026 at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
