Carolyn Kay Jines, 86, died Sunday, July 5, 2026 at St. Catherine's Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Nov. 21, 1939 to Merrell and Nellie Kuykendall.
She graduated from Turpin High School in 1958. She attended Northwestern Oklahoma State and graduated in 1962.
She worked as a paraprofessional for Turpin Public Schools.
She was a member of Turpin Baptist Church.
She loved watching her grandchildren participate in the sports they loved and enjoyed cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Oklahoma University Football team.
She enjoyed creating quilts that were often gifted to her friends and family.
She was an avid gardener and loved flowers, especially roses.
Survivors include daughters, Sherlyn Sue Greer and Merlyn Kay (Bill) Sawyers; grandchildren: Justin Sawyers, Garrett Walter, Jeremy Yonkers, Brock Walter, Ben Clubb, Heath Kirmer, Kaylee Yonkers, Tayler Clubb, Rachel Kirmer, Jennifer Walter, Ashley Walter; great-grandchildren: Jordan Yonkers, Konner Yonkers, Lucas Yonkers, Breighlee Sawyers, Maddox Sawyers, Gavin Sawyers, Malcolm Clubb, Eden Clubb, Brayden Walter, Maddie Whitehead, Paysley Walter, Denver Walter, Waylon Kirmer; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ron Kuykendall; and son-in-law, Rodger Greer.
• Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday July 10, 2026 at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday July 11, 2026 at the Turpin Baptist Church in Turpin, Okla., with Ben Clubb, Dan Cox, and Rod Klingsick presiding.
Burial will take place at the Turpin Cemetery in Turpin, Okla.
Memorials are suggested to the Southwest Kansas and Oklahoma Panhandle Nurse Honor Guard.
