David Gene Lee, 78, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on April 7, 2026.
He was born Feb. 14, 1948, in Oklahoma City.
David served in the United States Army as a member of the 101st Airborne. He later worked for many years as a flooring installer, retiring from Brown's Furniture in Liberal.
He was a man who found joy in the simple things-reading, watching westerns, and spending time with his family. He also loved fishing and spending time playing cards and dominoes with family and friends. In earlier years, he enjoyed playing golf, a pastime he cherished when he was able.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Lee; his children, Bobby Lee, Shawna Hammock and her husband, Tim Hammock, and Daniel Lee and his fiancée, Sam Benear and her three children; his stepchildren: Ray White, Brandy White, and Kenneth White, along with their children and grandchildren; his grandchildren: Austen Lee, Haven Lee, Chris Lee, Kayla Lee, and Adilyn Lee; his great-grandchildren; his sister, Valerie Taylor; and his brother, Eddie Lee.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Lee; his granddaughter, Cambri Lee; his mother, Mary "Tiny" Lee; and his father, Hoy Lee.
David will be remembered for his love of family and the quiet, steady presence he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
o Memorial services took place April 13, 2026 at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, Texas.
