TYRONE, Okla.—It looked like the Tyrone Bobcats were headed to a romp over their rival, the Turpin Cardinals, when they scored touchdowns on their first two drives to take a 12-0 lead less than halfway through the first quarter. But the Cardinals came alive, scoring 54 unanswered points to claim the 54-12 victory over the Bobcats.

Turpin outgained Tyrone 308 to 227, with each team collecting ten first downs. The Cardinals were 6 of 7 on 2-point conversions while the Bobcats were 0-2, Each team tallied 85 yards in penalties, the Cardinals on nine flags, the Bobcats on 12.

Cesar Quintana completed 13 of 16 passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers. Quintana also ran for 22 yards and a touchdown. Saul Alvarado rushed seven times for 89 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 48 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Gandarilla caught five passes for 72 yards and a touchdown; Max Garza caught three for 43 yards and a touchdown, and Mason Barnett caught three passes for 31 yards and a touchdown. Max Porras also threw a 50-yard touchdown pass on his one attempt.

Saul Alvarado led the Cardinal defense with 12 tackles; a fumble recovered for a touchdown and an interception. Freshman Teak Rorabaugh tallied nine tackles in his high school debut; Max Gandarilla had 10 tackles, including one for loss. Roger Sierra had seven tackles including one for loss and a sack, Max Garza had seven tackles including two for loss and a sack, Daniel Ponce had 10 tackles including three for loss, Mason Barnett had nine tackles including one for loss, and Alex Alvarado had seven tackles including one for loss from his nose tackle position.

Turpin (1-0) will travel to Stanton County this Friday.
