The Liberal Lady Redskins hosted the Hays Lady Indians for a key Western Athletic Conference game Thursday at Redskin Field, and after one half of play, storm clouds rolled in and led to a cancellation of the second half.

The first half was dominated by defense.

Liberal had one golden opportunity when Lily Guy broke free for a one-on-one shot attempt, but the ball sailed wide.

Another shot attempt from a deep penalty kick appeared to drive the Hays keeper behind the goal line, but no goal was awarded.

Hays had very few opportunities to score in the first half with a stiff wind in its face.

The Lady Redskin defense kept the ball out of the box, and most of the first half took place at midfield with both teams attempting to advance the ball.

Hays used the sidelines to move the ball downfield while the Lady Redskins pushed the ball up the middle.

By halftime, neither team had scored, and a 30-minute lightning delay was declared. The lightning continued, and the game was postponed with a make-up date to be determined.
