The Liberal Redskins had a six-run second inning in Game 1 against Dodge City Tuesday, but they couldn’t add any more runs and fell to the Red Demons 10-6.
Kye Morris took the mound for the Redskins and allowed five runs, only three of those earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out two.
He left the mound with a 6-5 lead.
Bren Kappelmann took over and threw the final three innings. He allowed five runs, four of those earned, on four hits and a walk while striking out two.
Dodge City took the lead with two runs in the sixth and added three more in the seventh to come back to defeat the Redskins 10-6.
In Game 2, two errors in the second inning including a collision in left field that allowed the Red Demons to score five runs, and Liberal continued to chase the rest of the way in a 14-8 loss.
Eathan Hernandez pitched three innings and allowed eight runs, but only four of those were earned.
Bentley Betts, Austin Dodge and Ethan Olmstead all contributed on the mound but couldn’t stop the Red Demons from scoring 14 runs.
Blayden Betts led the Redskins at the plate with three hits in the loss.
Liberal will travel to Dodge Saturday in an attempt to salvage the final game of the season series.
