This year marks the 75th anniversary of Meade District Hospital, and staff of the hospital have been celebrating since 2026 began.
April 16, MDH will host a community come-and-go event from 3 to 7 p.m., and Artesian Valley Health System Marketing Manager Crystal Torres said the event was created to honor the individuals and history that have shaped the hospital.
“We will have food and refreshments, historical photographs and opportunities to reconnect and reflect on the hospital’s significance to the community over the years,” she said.
Thus far, Torres said the 75th anniversary celebration has gone well.
“Some employees have shared their memories and experiences, while others are learning about parts of the hospital’s history they didn’t know before,” she said. “This has brought together a nice mix of reflection and discovery.”
As for the rest of the year, Torres said AVHS will continue to highlight the history of MDH by sharing stories, featuring content on social media and engaging with the community.
Torres has worked with Artesian Valley for serveral years, and she said it has been a great experience so far.
“I genuinely enjoy being part of the AVHS family and everything it represents,” she said.
Torres said AVHS continually seeks ways to improve access, quality and patient experience.
“This includes evaluating new services, technologies and strategies to better meet the needs of our community, while maintaining a personal, small-town standard of care,” she said.
With 75 years of trusted care, Torres said MDH’s foundation is strong, and the focus now is building on that legacy.
“Our goal is to continue growing, adapting and ensuring we serve future generations as effectively as, or even more effectively than, before,” she said.
As for the April 16 event, Torres encourages everyone to participate in what she called, “this meaningful occasion.”
“Whether you have worked here, received care or are a member of the community, the hospital has likely influenced your life in some way,” she said. “This event offers an opportunity to celebrate that connection and contribute to the next chapter.”
Torres said she and her fellow employees are very excited for April 16 in Meade.
“It’s not often you get to celebrate something like this, and we’re really looking forward to bringing the community together for a meaningful and memorable event,” she said.
