According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, traffic changes are under way along Kansas Highway 96 from the Wichita/Scott county line east to Ora Street in Scott City.
K-96 traffic will be reduced to one lane in sections as crews work to resurface this 11.37-mile-long project area.
Steve and Jerri Lynn Lyddon were married Oct. 5, 1974.
“Our family thinks this is an incredible achievement, especially when you look at marriage and divorce rates these days,” daughter Marie Lyddon said.
Marie said Steve and Jerri Lynn are a very loving couple who do their best to take care of each other.
“They talk on the phone every day if my dad has a trip, and they have lunch together nearly every day if he doesn’t,” she said. “Watching them together is truly an inspiration and something to which other wedded couples should aspire. We are very proud of them and humbled by their dedication to each other.”
People of all ages are vulnerable while walking.
Unfortunately, a total of 179 pedestrians across Kansas, ranging in ages from 4 to 93, have been hit and killed by vehicles in the five-year span from 2019-2023.
September has been a busy month for the Kelly Administration, and there were recently a couple important announcements made.
Monday, Gov. Laura Kelly announced the State of Kansas will cover the state licensing, background check, and fingerprinting fees for child care providers seeking initial licensure or licensure renewal through 2025 or until available funds are expended. Fee coverage will assist new child care providers by reducing start-up costs and continuing to support existing providers as they retain their licensure, according to a release from the State of Kansas.
Oklahoma Panhandle State University’s College of Arts & Education is proud to host the upcoming Panhandle Teaching & Learning event featuring Dr. Gary Girod, an assistant professor in the history department.
Oct, 16 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Library Reading Room, Dr. Girod will present a lecture titled “The Origins of the All-Seeing State,” based on his book “Domestic Surveillance and Social Control in Britain and France during World War I,” published by Routledge.
