The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is pleased to announce that the state Medicaid program, known as KanCare, will now cover doula services.

The coverage, which becomes effective July 1, will allow Medicaid beneficiaries in Kansas to have access to a range of doula services designed to provide crucial support during pregnancy, labor, delivery and the postpartum period, while enhancing the overall health care experience for expectant mothers.

Serving in the military is a viable career path for many young people, and recently, some legislation was introduced to help with just that.

Wednesday, U.S. Senators Jerry Moran, Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) recently introduced legislation to help states access military enlistment data to better inform students on military careers.

TOPEKA – Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt announced Thursday, the Kansas Department of Insurance has made its annual distribution to local Firefighter Relief Associations (FRAs).

Pursuant to the Kansas Firefighters Relief Act, $159,208.99 has been distributed among two local FRAs throughout Seward County.
