KCC to host public hearing to discuss collector transmission lines

TOPEKA – The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) will host an open house and public hearing Wednesday, July 10, in Dodge City to discuss an application from Grain Belt LLC to site two 345 kV transmission lines designed to connect nearby wind and solar facilities to the Grain Belt Express line.

One line is planned to run through parts of Ford, Meade, and Gray counties (the “Meade-Dodge City Line”) and the other through parts of Ford County (the “Bucklin-Dodge City Line”).

Linkous takes helm at USD No. 480

Earlier this year, Dr. Todd Carter announced his resignation as USD 480 superintendent, and Stephen Linkous was announced as his replacement.

As Linkous tells it, he is no stranger to the education field.

Two additional arrests made following Freedom homicide

FREEDOM, Okla. – On April 11, 2024, the Woods County Sheriff’s Office requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to assist with a double homicide.

Around 4 a.m. that morning, Woods County deputies responded to a residence in Freedom, near Saddlehorn Drive and Dusty Trail, regarding possible gunshots.
