Liberal has been known as the home of Dorothy Gale of “The Wizard of Oz” fame for many years now, and late last week, a new attraction was officially opened to help emphasize that.
Friday, the City of Liberal, Convention and Tourism Bureau and other entities hosted a grand opening for the new Ruby Red Slipper Slide at the Convention and Tourism Bureau building at 1 Yellow Brick Road.
Seward County’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department has spent a good amount of time performing work and assisting the City of Liberal with various services.
With a unanimous vote from the county commission at its July 7 meeting, the county will fully provide cooperative GIS services to the city.
Commissioners approved a resolution regarding cooperative use of the county’s GIS services in the city and an interlocal agreement between city and county commissioners concerning the services.
Southwest Medical Center is proud to announce that Benjamin Muñoz, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, has joined the provider team at Southwest Care Center as a family nurse practitioner.
Muñoz has been part of the Southwest Medical Center team since 2013, having worked in the Medical-Surgical and Intensive Care Unit. Now, with over a decade of hands-on experience, he is expanding his role as a bilingual primary care provider for the community he has long served.
Preschool through 8th-grade enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year will take place at the Seward County Activity Center on the following dates:
• Tuesday, July 22 – (480 Employees ONLY) 1 to 3 p.m.
• Wednesday, July 23 – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Thursday, July 24 – 1 to 7 p.m.
The Baker Arts Center has been looking to expand its permanent collection, and an artistic donation was made to help with just that.
Recently, the Baker Arts Center accepted a donation of two pieces by artist Ken Crost, and Baker Arts Center Director Brittyn Heronemus said she was very happy with how the donation occurred.
