There is a desire for more public art in Kansas communities and recently, the Kansas Department of Commerce (KDOC) announced a couple great opportunities.
Wednesday, KDOC announced the launch of a new round of Rural Mural funding to support the creation of projects in rural Kansas communities. The total amount of funding available is $125,000.
Roads and fairground fees have been on the minds of many Seward County constituents recently, and all three will be part of the county commission’s next regular meeting Monday night.
The commission will discuss the possible usage of the Base One stabilizer brought up as an alternative to the Perma-Zyme stabilizer being used on the Road O project.
One of Liberal’s pregnancy care centers now has a second building, and the journey to get that building is one of time and patience.
Started in 2019 with a schedule of two days a week with the purpose of exercising love, kindness, mercy, favor and service to some and families who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy, Grace Place Pregnancy Care Center is now open five days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As the services and the number of people receiving those services continues to grow, the need for more operating space has grown as well, and starting in 2023, Grace Place officials began raising funds for an ultrasound program.
Seward County Community College is ready to expand operations to its newly renovated West Campus site at 712 N. Western Ave. The college invites the public to attend a ribbon-cutting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 14.
“We are so excited to move into the new space,” said Vice President of Career & Technical Education Dr. Amber Jones. “Truck driving / CDL will be the first program, and we will gradually add diesel technology.”
The Liberal community got to share its love of all things gaming Saturday night at this year’s Chamber Bash, and as Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rozelle Webb tells it, it was a very successful evening.
“I was really pleased with the entire event, it was a great evening. We had a big crowd, a great meal provided by National Beef, and the band who played during the meal did a great job entertaining everyone, which was fun,” Webb said. “With the corporate tables, everyone did a fantastic job decorating them to this year's theme, which was 'For the Love of the Game.' The theme was pretty broad, and there are many ways it could be interpreted, so I felt like it was actually kind of easy for businesses. That's always really fun, and I was just amazed at the sheer amount of creativity put forward. I wasn't one of the judges, but I have a feeling it was really hard for them to pick the winners because all the tables just looked so amazing.”
