Young ladies are invited spark their sense of adventure at the Girl Scout Discovery Night signup event Thursday, Feb. 13.
The event will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Randall Girls Scout Cabin at 111 W. 11th Street in Liberal, and girls are invited bring their grown-ups along.
There are many events that have come and gone throughout Liberal’s time, and later this year, one particularly popular event will be making a comeback.
The Liberal AirFair will officially be coming back this fall, and AirFair Committee Chair Blake Prosser said discussions about bringing the event back have been going on for a while.
“Letters From Home” is coming to Liberal at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the LHS Auditorium. This performance is sponsored by Tony Creekmore from Jones Monument.
Letters from Home is a USO-style show, honoring artists like Frank Sinatra, the Andrews Sisters, Vera Lynn, the Nicholas Brothers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and many others. High-energy singing and tap dancing by founders Erinn Dearth and Dan Beckmann will leave those who attend feeling great. Though no two performances are the same, each show will be funny, historical, and inspirational.
Liberal officially has a new permanent city manager with Scarlette Diseker.
Diseker, who started with the City of Liberal in 2022, was officially approved in the position at the most recent Liberal City Commission meeting, and as she tells it, she is ready to continue her work.
The Seward County Development Corporation has many resources to help local businesses grow and develop, and recently, they added a new piece to the puzzle to further help with getting and keeping businesses in the community.
After seeing a need for guidance with cash flow, financial projection, understanding assets and liabilities and bookkeeping, SCDC Entrepreneurship Director Raquel Areallano said leaders with the corporation created a financial services specialist position.
