Garden City Community College (GCCC) is expanding its Construction Technology program beginning Fall 2025, offering enhanced training opportunities to meet growing workforce demands across Southwest Kansas and beyond.
The expansion includes new credential options in Construction Technology, developed in partnership with the Southwest Kansas Builders Association. These updates respond to increasing student interest and urgent regional needs in the housing and construction industries.
The end of Liberal Memorial Library’s summer reading program is drawing to a close, and staff will be bringing in a bit of madness to coincide with that.
Mad Science will be making its way to Liberal Memorial Library Friday, June 27 as part of the library's party that will see the end of this year's summer reading program. The show will start at 1 p.m., and the mad scientists will be bringing their program 'Artsplosion.'
Last Saturday saw an estimated more than 5 million people participate in No Kings Day protests against recent actions from the Trump Administration in more than 2,100 cities and towns throughout the U.S., and more protests took place in U.S. territories including Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands. Even more protests took place in multiple foreign countries, including Canada, Japan, and Mexico, among others.
One of the U.S. protests took place in Liberal, and coordinator Sheryl Hall said it was not a hard decision to put the event together.
The community is invited to celebrate Independence Day in style with this year’s 4th of July Day in the Park, taking place at Light Park beginning at 11 a.m., immediately after the annual parade.
The event promises a full day of family-friendly fun, with local vendors offering food, handmade crafts, lemonade, snow cones, and a variety of other festive treats. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, relax, and enjoy the summer atmosphere with family and friends.
