Western Kansas Community Foundation
GARDEN CITY – Western Kansas Community Foundation (WKCF) is awarding 71 scholarships from 18 different funds totaling $188,050 for the 2026/2027 school year, with more awards to be determined throughout the summer.
In addition, the foundation makes distributions from several designated funds for the purpose of providing scholarships. This year, a total of $78,169.43 will go directly to the Garden City Community College Endowment Association for the purpose of providing scholarships.
These distributions are made from the Mildred Henselman Fund ($39,998.43), the Erdene Corley Scholarship Fund ($12,190), the Henry & Nellie Hall Fund ($14,000), the K.O. & Ruth Powell Fund ($5,980), and the Otis & Mary Lee Molz Fund for Kearny County ($5,960).
“Scholarships are one of the most meaningful ways we connect generosity with opportunity,”said Stacie Hahn, WKCF Program & Marketing Director. “As we celebrate 30 years of serving Southwest Kansas, we're proud to honor the donors who have invested in students and helped create pathways to education, career success, and stronger communities. Every scholarship awarded reflects a belief in the future of our region and the people who will help shape it.”
Several scholarships held by the WKCF are reviewed by external review committees based on guidelines set by the donors; others are reviewed directly by the Community Foundation board, with awards generally made once per year in May.
