Dakota Joe Martin, 22, of Union City, Okla., passed away June 27, 2026. 

Born Sept. 4, 2003, in Oklahoma City, Dakota spent his life surrounded by the community and people he held dear.

Dakota is survived by his son, Colter Nash Martin and daughter, Masie Jo Martin. He will also be lovingly remembered by his parents, Charles and Kasi Sample; his brothers, Harlan Cavin, Charles Michael Sanders, Zane Littleton and Montgomery (Montie) Sample. He was the nephew of Patty Cavin of Liberal, and Robert Faulkner of Lee's Summit Mo. 

Dakota was preceded in death by his sister Eryn Presley Sanders, and his adoring aunts Lenora, Michelle, and Nicki and many family and friends.

Dakota was the son of Kasi Jo (Cavin) Sample formerly of Turpin, Okla., grandson of Kathy (Stickler) Kirby, formerly of Turpin, Okla., the great-grandson of the late Harry and Patty Jo Stickler of Turpin, Okla., great-great grandson of the late Mary Martz of Liberal, and the late Mr and Mrs Roy G Stickler Sr. of Turpin, Okla. 

He is also survived by his  estranged wife, Madison Martin.

Dakota was a steadfast presence for his friends and family, always ready to lend a hand or offer support when it was needed most.

Dakota had a passion for cars and dreamed of restoring older vehicles. He found joy in fishing, studying military history, and helping others with their car troubles, combining his love for mechanics with his generous spirit.

His dedication to assisting those around him left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
