Evangeline L. “Banny” Orme, 89, died Aug. 31, 2026 in Wichita.

She was born Sept. 24, 1936 to Loyal and Vera Fidler.

She graduated from Meade High School in 1955 and continued her education at Southwestern College, McPherson College, and Wichita State University.

She married Royce G. Orme Aug. 25, 1957. He preceded her in death Dec. 6, 2005.

On April 1, 1977, the couple assumed ownership of Fidler Mortuary from her parents and served area families as owners and operators of Fidler-Orme Mortuary for 28 years. They continued operating the mortuary until August 2004, when they sold the business to their nephew, Trevin Bachman.

She spent 17 years as a program assistant for the U.S. Department of Agriculture at the ASCS office in Meade.

She volunteered for many years as an EMT with the Meade Ambulance Service.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Meade, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 58 years, and a member of P.E.O. Chapter A in Meade before transferring to Chapter EW in Wichita.

Survivors include sons, Kipp (Melissa) Orme and Dr. Darren (Marna) Orme; sisters, Judy Smith and Cindy Robbins; six grandchildren: Dr. Michelle Alders, Brian Orme, Garrett Orme, and Elizabeth, Emersyn and Ellery Orme; three great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Martin and Lance’ and many other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Vicky Pankratz; three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

• Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2026 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.  

Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Meade.  

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.

Memorials are suggested to the Meade Public Library Foundation or to the church of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
