Cruz Montoya Santillan, 79, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026 at her home in Moscow.

She was born May 3, 1947 to Heriberto and Candelaria (Favela) Montoya. 

She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church of Hugoton.

She lived with deep love for those closest to her and found happiness in caring for them, especially through cooking and gathering together.

She also enjoyed going to the casino and playing bingo.

Survivors include son, Raul Santillan and wife, Holly; daughter, Rosa Santillan-Vasquez, and husband, Valentin; brothers: Felix Montoya and wife, Lucia, Alfredo Montoya and wife, Leti, and Vicente Montoya; sister, Hilda Lechuga; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughters, Maria Elena Santillan and Lucila Santillan; and 10 siblings.

• Rosary services will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026 at St. Helen Catholic Church at 1011 S Jefferson Street in Hugoton.

Funeral services will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Hugoton/.   

Burial will follow at the Moscow Cemetery at 2120 High School Street in Moscow.
