Perry LaRay Heckle, 85, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026 at his home in Liberal.

He was born Feb. 20, 1941 to Clarence and Agnes (Love) Heckle.

He married Carol Curry Oct. 15, 1959. She survives.

He graduated from Liberal High School with the Class of 1960.

He began working in the oilfield at age 17 and continued until he retired in 2003.

He enjoyed many activities including gardening and fishing with his children and grandchildren.

He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Guymon, OK.

Survivors also include daughter, Kelli Springer and husband, Rocky; three sons: Van Heckle and wife, Kitty, David Heckle and wife, Aurora, and C.C. Heckle and wife, Tonda; sisters, Mary Monden, and Georgia Vigil; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence Heckle Jr. and Lawrence Heckle; and great-granddaughter, Marisela "Maddy" Mendoza.

• Funeral services took place Friday, Oct. 30, 2026 at the Miller Mortuary Chapel in Liberal, with Rev. Van Heckle presiding.

Burial took place at the Liberal City Cemetery in liberal.
