Carlos C. De Leon, 79, died Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born July 13, 1946 to Cristobal and Maria De Leon in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

He married Maria Ortiz in 1963.  She preceded him in death Jan. 26, 2014. 

He married Nolvia Salgado.  She survives.

He very much enjoyed music, dancing and traveling, especially to the beach.  He loved reading and watching action movies. He was a home handyman, able to make any repairs.

He was devoted to going to church and reading the Bible.

He worked for many years as a sales clerk at Walmart.

Survivors include his son, Hector De Leon and wife, Norma, Olathe; daughters, Claudia De Leon and husband, Orlando Licon, Liberal, and Karla De Leon, Liberal; grandchildren: Deidre and Christian Ubeda, Shawn, Christian, Carlos and Hector De Leon II, Erik and Kevin Loya; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and daughters, Lorena and Maria De Leon.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2026 at the IDPMI Church at 419 W 1st Street in Liberal, with Pastor Hipolito Castaneda presiding.

Friends may call from 10 a.m to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Hornung Family Funeral Home at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal.
