Reuben Gonzales, 82, died Saturday, March 28, 2026 in Garden City. 

He was born April 13, 1943 in Truth or Consequences, N.M.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He served as a police officer in Garden City.

He also worked at Palmers for 15 years and Monfort Beef for 17 years.

He enjoyed fishing, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include three sons: JJ Gonzales and wife, Diana, Joaquin Gonzales and wife, Lisa, and Damian Gonzales; brothers, Ray and Eddie; sister, Margaret; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Benefacio Gonzales; his mother, Santana Gonzales; brothers: Joe, Orlando, and Damian; and sisters: Eleanor, Dora, and Bonita.
