Shirley Darlene Bennett, 82, died March 30, 2026. 

She was born Aug. 26, 1943 to William and Mildred (Russell) Farr.

She graduated from Scott Community High School in 1961.

She married Aaron Kent Bennett in 1961. They later separated

Shirley's career as an accountant began at Burnett Cattle in Scott City, where she served for 13 years before relocating to Garden City in 1989. There, she continued her professional journey for 21 years with Gigot Feeders/Garden City Feedyard/AZTX/Trinity Feedyard.

She was a 4-H leader and Girl Scout leader and an active member of the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed sewing, playing, listening to music, watching westerns, exploring genealogy, singing, cooking and dancing.

She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City.

Survivors include children: Shonda Sauseda and husband Willie, Shelia Croft and husband, JT, Michael Bennett and wife, Lexie, Mark Bennett and wife, Suzy, and Sharilyn Stewart and husband, Darin; sister, May Carpenter and husband, Ralph; sister-in-law, Roberta Farr; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Delbert, Don, Norman, and Leon Farr; sister, Brenda Farr; and granddaughter Maddison Stewart.

• Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2026 at First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City, with Pastor John Harms officiating.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Robson Funeral Home at 620 N. Main Street in Garden City.

A memorial has been established in honor of Shirley for the church through Robson Funeral Home.
