Richard D. Anderson, 77, of Edmond, Okla., passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Richard was born May 10, 1949 to Robert and Ruth Ann Anderson in Washington, Iowa.
He graduated from Washington High School in 1967.
On October 26, 1968, Richard married Jeri Birney. The couple was blessed with three children and later five cherished grandchildren.
Richard began working for Brown's Shoe Fit while in high school. Because of his work ethic and salesmanship, he was provided many opportunities with the company where he was eventually awarded his own store, taking the family to Liberal in 1977.
Richard changed careers and began working in oil field sales, which lasted for more than 30 years.
In 2003, Richard and Jeri moved to Edmond, Okla.
He retired from Drilling Fluids Technology of Kingfisher, Okla., where he genuinely loved his work and the people he worked alongside.
Outside of work, he loved his family and working in his yard. Above all, Richard valued his relationship with God, drawing strength and peace from his faith throughout his life.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Jeri Anderson; children, Brent (Alisha) Anderson, Wichita, Chad Anderson, Edmond, Okla., and Amy (Jerrod) Gray, Edmond, Okla. He also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Emily (Jared) Owens, Georgetown, Texas, Cody Redmon, Weatherford, Texas, Remy Redmon, Pensacola, Fla., Gabby Gray, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Tallon Gray, Edmond, Okla.; as well as two sisters, Linda (Tom) Lowe, and Roberta Garrels.
o Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home Chapel at 14624 N. May Ave. in Oklahoma City. Following the service, a gathering and reception will be held at the funeral home where all are welcome to share memories and celebrate Richard's life.
