ULYSSES – O.D. Young, 75, died June 13, 2026 at his home in Ulysses.
He was born Sept. 24, 1950 to Tommy and Ileta (Hollopeter) Young.
He graduated from Grant County Rural High School and furthered his education by attending mechanic school in Wichita.
He married Linda Grubbs Jan. 23, 1969. She survives.
He owned and operated Odor’s Garage and Truck Parts in Ulysses for 50 years.
Outside of mechanics, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and treasured time spent outdoors. He also loved the excitement of tractor pulls and had built a hot rod tractor.
Survivors also include son, Nick Young and wife, Trina; daughter, Jenny Ibarra; grandchildren: Colby Hagerman, Peighton Dennis and husband, Lakota, and Davin Powers and wife, Triana; and great-grandchildren: Paisley, Sayler, Iliana, Dredyn and Jakoby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Doug Young; sister, Joy Hampton; and son-in-law, Tony Ibarra.
• Memorial services took place Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, with Chaplain Gerry Dupuis presiding.
Burial took place at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton.
