Virginia “Ginger” Carol (Phifer) Mostrom, 81, died Sunday, June 14, 2026, in Wichita.
Her education journey led her to a Methodist boarding school in Miltonvale, where she attended high school. She later attended Patricia Stevens Finishing School.
She married Oscar Gary Mostrom Feb. 20, 1965, at the United Methodist Church of Hugoton. He preceded her in death.
The couple farmed side by side for 40 years until retirement. They enjoyed traveling, and managed to travel to every State in the continental US.
She raised her children in the First Christian Church of Hugoton and remained an active member until relocating to Wichita.
She enjoyed painting, dancing and bean bag baseball.
Survivors include daughters: Casyn Ziegler and husband, Marc, Susan Slief and husband, Roger, Gina Tyler and husband, Todd, and Lisa Stewart and husband, Sam; brother, John Phifer and Margaret; 12 grandchildren: Aubrey, Heath, Michael, Caitlyn, Tana, Andy, Annie, Hayden, Hailey, Emma, Eli, Maggie; 10 great-grandchildren, with two more soon to arrive; and many other family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Bessie (Cunningham) Phifer; sister, Barbara Shelton; and brothers: Clifford, Jerry, Gary, and Denny.
• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the First Christian Church of Hugoton, with Pastor Bergan Morris presiding.
Burial will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2026 at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton. The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church.
A memorial has been established in her honor for the First Christian Church or Pheasant Heaven Charities, through Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.
