ULYSSES – Orville Frank Figgins, 92, died Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson.
He was born Dece. 25, 1933 to Ennis and Bertha (Custer) Figgins.
He married Faye McClure Nov. 21, 1956. She survives.
After serving his country in the U.S. Army, spending 18 months in Germany and being honorably discharged in May of 1958, Orville and Faye moved back to Manter to farm.
Throughout the years he worked at Ansel Mfg. Co., Plateau Gas and Collingwood Grain, but spent most of his life farming with his brother, Robert.
He was a member of the Johnson First Baptist Church and enjoyed camping and spending time with family.
Survivors also include children, Vicky Wilson, Buna, Texas and Ennis Figgins, Buna, Texas; brothers, Richard Figgins and wife, Diane, Vilas, Colo., and Russell Figgins and wife, Jackie, Pueblo, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Figgins, Hot Springs, Ark., and Judy Figgins, Ulysses; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Figgins and Jay Figgins; sister, Barbara Smith; son-in-law, Bob Wilson; and brother-in-law, Gerald McClure.
o Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson, with Pastor Erik Miravete and Jonathan Emerson presiding. The service will be streamed on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page.
Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, with military honors by Southwest Kansas Veterans Funeral Honor Guard and the Kansas Military Funeral Honors.
