Joe Thomas Holcomb, 69, died Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. 

He was born Nov. 14, 1956 to Joe Holcomb and Selia (Luinstra) Crawford.

He married Linda Lou (Clifft) Holcomb Aug. 1, 1981. She survives.

He worked for the City of Hugoton for nearly 40 years as a mechanic.

He was a member of Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton.

He was a fan of dirt track racing and enjoyed spending time at the races, and was an integral part of Jan and Dee Leonard Racing. One of his proud moments came when the Hugoton community asked for suggestions to name the local racetrack. Joe submitted “Dirtona Raceway,” and his entry was selected.

Survivors also include daughter, Laura Holcomb, Hugoton; sons, Wade Holcomb, Amarillo, Texas, and Bill Holcomb and wife, Krista, Liberal; five grandchildren: Elsie Gonzales, Lyza Gonzales, Elias Holcomb, Ian Holcomb and Alyvia Holcomb; sister, Dana Solis, Dodge City; brothers-in-law, Kevin Clifft, Hugoton, and David Griffin, Ottawa; and nieces and nephews: Shellina Shearer, Mike Leonard, Ronnie Campbell, Sean Holcomb, Amanda Zayas, Cierra Holcomb, Jose Luna Jr., Selia Solis-Velasquez, April Solis and Tami Clifft.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd “Tuff” Crawford; his mother, Selia (Luinstra) Crawford; brother, Kendric Holcomb; sisters, Mary Griffin and Darlene Holcomb; and daughter-in-law, Kelsey Stecklein.

• Celebration of Life services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026 at Bethel Friends Church at 1040 S. Jefferson in Hugoton.

Cremation has taken place.
