Thanks to a no-hitter from Haiden Lyon and a strong outing from Devaney Carter, the Lady Redskins swept the Hugoton Lady Eagles Thursday at the National Beef Family Sports Complex.
Liberal had strong started in both games, and in Game 1 the Lady Redskins pushed four runs across the plate for the early 4-0 lead. Liberal added two more runs in the fourth inning and another two runs in the sixth.
Hugoton only had two base runners in the 8-0 loss with both reaching on walks.
Lyon struck out 15 Hugoton batters.
The Lady Redskins only had five hits in the win and took advantage of a Hugoton error and seven walks.
Brooklyn Short led the Lady Redskins with two RBIs.
Miley Janko and Carter also had and RBI each.
In Game 2, the Lady Redskins agin struck early, pushing three runs across the plate in the first inning for a 3-0 lead.
Hugoton cut the lead to 3-1 in the third, but Liberal answered with three more runs in the third and four in the fourth.
Hugoton added tow more in the fifth, but Liberal added a run in the fifth and sixth for the 12-3 win.
Carter threw a complete game and allowed three runs, none of them earned on six hits and three walks while striking out 12.
