The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference recognized six members of the Seward County Community College baseball team with West Division All-Conference honors.
Sophomore Michael Lujan earned second-team honors, while sophomores Juan Alvarez, Hayden Ramage, Braden Whipple, and freshmen Jhett Huffman and Isai Santaella earned honorable mention recognition
Lujan was the Saints ace on the mound all season and was honored as one of the top six pitchers in the Jayhawk West. He held a 5.94 ERA with 45 strikeouts and 15 walks in 36.1 innings in league play. The 45 strikeouts were fourth most in the league. Overall, Lujan struck out a league-high 91 and held a 5-6 record with 68 innings pitched. He was named the KJCCC Pitcher of the Week twice. The 91 strikeouts this season ranks ninth all time in SCCC single season history.
Santaella spent time in the infield and outfield for Seward and hit .370 while slugging .660 in conference play. Santaella totaled 11 doubles and six home runs while driving in 20 in 24 Jayhawk games. The doubles, home runs, and slugging percentage numbers all led the team.
Alvarez, an infielder for Seward, hit .357 in conference action with a .448 on-base percentage. He tallied 40 hits, 27 RBIs and had five doubles, four triples, and five home runs.
Whipple, a third-year relief pitcher for Seward, picked up a team-high four saves in league play. He struck out 13 and held a 6.75 ERA.
Huffman was the Saints everyday shortstop, hitting .287 with a .387 on-base percentage in conference action. He tallied 27 hits and 19 runs scored in 30 games. Huffman fielded at a .922 clip with 102 chances.
Ramage, the Saints catcher, hit .276 with 24 runs driven in and 10 extra base hits.
