GUEST COLUMN, Chuck Bowman, Bee Jays Board President

The Board of Directors of the Liberal Bee Jays would like to invite you to the 2026 collegiate baseball season. We are looking forward to an exciting year.

This season will celebrate many of the baseball traditions envisioned by American League founder Ban Johnson, for whom the Bee Jays are named, and will continue the legacy of 71 summers of Bee Jay baseball in Liberal, Kansas.

We are excited to welcome back one of our former players from the 2020 season, Caden Trenkle. Coach Trenkle has enlisted two assistant coaches, Jonny Baileys as hitting coach and Gino Cozzi as batting coach. Their experience and enthusiasm will help build a winning team and create a positive experience in Liberal for players and fans this season.

The Bee Jays will once again compete in the Rocky Mountain Baseball League, which includes teams from Colorado’s Front Range, Denver to Fort Collins, as well as teams from western Kansas. Additional non-league games have also been scheduled and will provide outstanding competition. Bee Jays General Manager Danny Lubbers has worked hard throughout the offseason to assemble an excellent schedule for the 2026 season. The Bee Jay’s Board of directors have remained active since the end of last season preparing for this upcoming year of games. They cannot be over appreciated for the many hours they put into the Bee Jay’s Organization

The Bee Jays thank the businesses that continue to support the team through advertising. Their generosity helps make quality collegiate baseball in Liberal possible.

Of course, the season would not be complete without the fans who bring energy to the ballpark and inspire the players. Their support makes every game a fun and exciting experience for those in attendance and for listeners following away games on KSCB Radio.

Visit our new website, “liberalbeejays.net,” for more information, updated roster details, and any schedule changes throughout the season.

Join us at Brent Gould Field on the campus of Seward County Community College for a memorable summer of Bee Jays baseball.
