Sherman R. Morlen, 104, died Monday, April 14, 2025 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.  

He was born Jan. 16, 1921 to Elvis and Dora (Gorforth) Morlen.  He married Dorothy Robertson-Peebles Oct. 19, 1940. She preceded him in death July 6, 2001.

He worked for Clingan Tires for several years.

He owned and operated several tire businesses in Liberal.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Liberal.

Survivors include three sons; Mike Morlen and wife, Pat, Liberal, Sam Morlen, Longview, Texas, and Jim Morlen, Garden City; daughter, Catherine McGehee, Liberal; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; three daughters; Sharon Morlen, Donna VanBuren and Shirley Harbour; six brothers; three sisters; three grandsons; Matthew Hartley, Nicholas Morlen, and Christopher Morlen: granddaughter; Penny VanBuren; great-grandson, Charles Dunbar; son-in-law, Jim Harbour; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Morlen.

• Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday April 21, 2025 at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday April 22, 2025 at the First Christian Church at 920 N. Jordan Avenue in Liberal, with Jack Cooley presiding.

Burial will take place at the Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church or the Liberal Senior Center.
