Spider-Man has proven himself to be a popular fixture in recent Marvel media and thanks to Disney+, he gets another chance to shine.

Last week saw the premiere of the first episodes of “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” and, being a fan of the character, I figured I’d have to check out the latest iteration of everyone’s favorite webslinger. The show explores Peter Parker's origin story and early days using the Spider-Man persona and is set in an alternate timeline within the multiverse where Norman Osborn (who comic fans will know better as Green Goblin) becomes Peter's mentor instead of Tony Stark, as happens in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) main timeline.

Those looking to make the weekend of Valentine’s Day a getaway will have just that opportunity thanks to Broadway in Wichita.

The Tony Award-winning show “The Book of Mormon” will be making its way to Wichita's Century II. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, and 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, with all performances at Century II Concert Hall in Wichita. The show follows two missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as they attempt to preach the faith to the inhabitants of a remote Ugandan village and face multiple challenges along the way.

Those looking for some entertainment and a bit of a history lesson will soon have just that chance thanks to the Liberal High School Drama Department.

The LHS Drama Department will be performing the play “Radium Girls” by D.W. Gregory at 7 p.m. Feb. 14 and 15, and at 2 p.m. Feb. 16. All performances will be in James W. Maskus Auditorium at Liberal High School, and tickets are $5 each for both students and adults.

The movie industry saw multiple ups and downs throughout 2024, and as Mitchell Theatres owner Brian Mitchell tells it, Liberal’s Southgate Cinema 6 was not completely immune from those.
