Cirque Dreams Holidaze coming to Century II Nov. 26 and 27

The holiday season is rapidly approaching, and for many families, that includes taking in a special show or two, which the American Theatre Guild will soon be providing.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze will be performing at Century II in Wichita Tuesday, Nov. 26 and Wednesday, Nov. 27, and both performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Cirque Dreams Holidaze Artistic Director Rebecca Shubart said the cast and crew are excited to take the show to Wichita.

Broadway In Wichita announces 2024-25 season

Those looking for some chances for a weekend getaway will have just that thanks to the American Theatre Guild.

Tickets for all of the shows in the 2024-25 season are now officially on sale to the general public, with the season beginning with an add-on, Cirque Dreams Holidaze, which will run Nov. 26 and 27, before moving on to "Chicago" (which will run from Dec. 20 through 22), followed "Pretty Woman: The Musical" (which will run Jan. 3 through 5, 2025), followed by "The Book of Mormon" (which will run Feb. 14 through 16, 2025), followed by "Beetlejuice" (which will run April 2 through 6, 2025), and the season will conclude with "The Cher Show," which will run April 25 through 27. Other add-on shows for the season will include "R.E.S.P.E.C.T" about the life of Aretha Franklin, which will run March 18, 2025, and "Champions of Magic," which will run April 17, 2025. All performances will be at Century II Performing Arts Center in Wichita.

Kendrick makes herself the woman of the hour in solid directorial debut

The Halloween season is truly well upon everyone, and in the spirit of that, I’ve been taking in all the spooky/creepy/mystery media I can to get in the proper mood. As you’ve read in past Octobers, I have some tried and true Halloween favorites, but this year seems to have more spooky/creepy/mystery releases to enjoy, including a new Netflix release, “Woman of the Hour.”

The film follows the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcala and his 1978 appearance on the television show “The Dating Game” in the midst of his murder spree. The film stars Anna Kendrick as “The Dating Game” contestant Cheryl Bradshaw and Daniel Zovatto as Alcala. From what I’ve read, at the time of his TV appearance, Alcala had murdered at least five women, and his appearance on the episode later earned him the nickname "The Dating Game Killer."

Rastelli Circus flying through Liberal Oct. 18 and 19

Those looking for a fun time will soon have that chance this time next week.

The Rastelli Circus will be performing in Liberal, with shows taking place at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, and 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. All performances will be at the Seward County Activity Center at 810 Stadium Ave. Performer Denisse Santos said she and her crew are excited to be bringing the show to Southwest Kansas.
