Moran and colleagues introduce bill to combat fentanyl-laced pill production

The need to combat fentanyl shipments has become a major priority for law enforcement throughout the U.S. and recently, some legislation was introduced to help with just that.

Last Friday, U.S. Senators Jerry Moran, John Cornyn (R-Texas), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) introduced their Fight Illicit Pill Presses Act, which would help stop the production of counterfeit and fentanyl-laced pills and make it easier for federal law enforcement to take action against cartels’ illegal use of pill presses by requiring them to be engraved with serial numbers, according to a release from Moran’s office.

Resurfacing to begin along K-96 in Wichita County

According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, traffic changes are anticipated to start Tuesday along Kansas Highway 96 from Greeley/Wichita county line east to the west city limits of Leoti.

K-96 traffic will be reduced to one lane in sections as they work to resurface this 10.87-mile-long project area.

According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, traffic changes are anticipated to start Monday along Kansas Highway 96 from the Lane/Ness county line east to east city limits of Ness City.

K-96 traffic will be reduced to one lane in sections as they work to resurface this 18.32-mile-long project area.

Bridge replacement project under way along K-34 in Clark County

A bridge replacement project is underway along Kansas Highway 34 over Bluff Creek, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

K-34 in both directions at Bluff Creek Bridge is closed to replace the bridge. The closure will be in effect throughout the duration of the project. Traffic will follow the signed detour using U.S. 54, U.S. 283 and U.S. 160 in Clark County.

Gov. Kelly honors 50th anniversary of Kansas WIC program

The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program helps many families every day and recently, the program celebrated a major milestone in Kansas.

Last Thursday, Gov. Laura Kelly signed a proclamation honoring the 50th anniversary of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for WIC in Kansas. Since the WIC program was first introduced in 1974, it has helped Kansas families access healthy, nutritional foods to better support the development of their children, according to a release from the State of Kansas.
