Florida Surgeon General Joseph A. Ladapo has joined Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in opposition to fluoride in the water supply. Dr. Ladapo cites controversial studies that claim the additive poses a risk to developing brains.
I shall resist the temptation to draw a link between such studies and our politicians.
There’s a Japanese proverb that says, “One kind word can warm three winter months.” If the rhetoric of recent days is any indication, we’re in for a frigid winter.
Recently, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, co-hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, shocked viewers when they chose to “restart communications” with Donald Trump. Since 2020, Morning Joe has been less about “news” per se and more about relentless attacks on the 47th President of the United States. Referring to Mr. Trump as a “fascist” and comparing him to Hitler was music to the ears of their far-left audience. When Scarborough informed viewers of the Mar-a-Lago meeting, Morning Joe got iced.
Gratitude is something that’s impossible to overdo. As we approach Thanksgiving, here’s a list of things I am thankful for as I look around the Seward County Community College campus.
• I am thankful for the founders who established our college more than 50 years ago, with the goal of strengthening the local community and providing opportunities for residents.
We are on the eve of Thanksgiving and one of the most iconic meals of the year. Who does not crave the turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, rolls, cranberries, pumpkin pie, etc. I know my plan is to fall asleep in front of the TV in a turkey induced food coma.
The American Farm Bureau Federation has come out with its annual comparison of the cost of a traditional dinner for 10 and the price has fallen for the second year in a row. The cost is $58.08, or $5.80 per person. This is a reduction of 5 percent from 2023 and down from $64.05 in 2022.
It’s important to know the Puritans weren’t the first Europeans to celebrate Thanksgiving in the New World.
The first Thanksgiving took place in May of 1541 not that far from here at Palo Duro Canyon. It took place with Spanish explorer Francisco Vasquez de Coronado who had marched north from Mexico City looking for the Seven cities of Gold.
