As the campaign ramps up between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, there are very different approaches being provide by both candidates.
Harris adopted Trump’s “No Tax on Tips” proposal, but other than that, they have taken very different paths on how to handle the nation’s finances as well as what role the American people will play.
There is no question about it. America was created to be a godly nation and it has largely remained so since its founding.
That now appears to be a problem for some.
My grandfather was always quick with a joke and more often than not the punchline was a play on words. Or, in at least one case a play on letters. My grandparents kept a green glass candy dish on a low bookshelf that was normally stocked with peppermints or caramels, except for one time when my mother removed the lid to find only a slip of paper reading “MT”. It took a couple minutes for her, and everyone except my grandfather, to decipher the message: the bowl was empty.
When thinking what to say about Evalean, the phrase, "Like a good neighbor..." came to mind, as well as the little jingle that goes with that auto insurance ad.
We were privileged to live across the road from Charles & Evalean Forward for more than five years. We weren't with them every day, but often we'd see Charles as he came across to pick up mail, or Steve out on the four-wheeler. Not long after we moved into the parsonage at Lone Star, they invited us over to a dinner in their shed, and we met some of the neighbors. A little later, they made sure we attended a Woods community get-together at the potato barn, where we sat with them, and met a lot more from the area. We didn't know for a long time, but Charles told us he'd been reading Gary's newspaper articles for many years before he met us.
Would it really be possible for Kansas’s at-risk program explode to a budget-busting $1.5 billion annually? I asked that question in June as something of a hypothetical, but that just took a step closer to become reality. Here’s a quick review of how that could happen.
At-risk funding in Kansas is currently based on eligibility for students’ qualifications for free lunch under United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines.
