Question for Seward County Commissioner Wettstein:
It is important that voters understand why Commissioner C.J. Wettstein built a structure on his property knowing the building permit and building codes were required, yet he failed to obtain such a permit.
School choice advocates just celebrated a milestone in the number students in private schools pursuant to choice initiatives. According to EdChoice, there is now in excess of one million students who have accessed private school choice options in 33 states, D.C. and Puerto Rico. Borrowing a punch line from an old joke, that’s a good start. That number will undoubtedly increase as Louisiana’s GATOR and Alabama’s CHOOSE ESA programs (don’t you love those legislative acronyms!) will soon join the other eleven states that have some form of universal ESAs.
Aug. 27, Oklahoma state superintendent of public instruction ordered all teachers in the state to apparently violate both state and federal laws separating religion from public schools. According to Reuters, he stated: “Every teacher, every classroom in the state will have a Bible in the classroom, and will be teaching from the Bible in the classroom to ensure that this historical understanding is there for every student in the state of Oklahoma.”
There have been nine times in history when a vice president has ascended to the presidency without an election. Eight of those occurred when a president dies or was killed in office, and one was when the president resigned.
In most cases, the vice president did a decent job as president, and many served with dignity, creating their own legacy.
Some didn’t.
From fact checkers to partisan online hacks, some numbers being shared about the economy defy the smell test.
The worst of these is the claim that Joe Biden “created” 15 million jobs during his presidency.
Even left-leaning fact checkers title this claim “needs context,” so I’m going to give you some.
