Estel “Shookie” Thomas Chelf, 79, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, at his home in Beaver, Okla.

He was born Nov. 18, 1946 to Paul Eugene and Leatrice Joy (Haltom) Chelf.

He married Suzanne Jones July 14, 2014. She survives.

He spent many years working as a welder for ONG and was a member of the Elks, the Moose Club, and the Woodward Round- Up Club.

He loved rodeo, golf, fishing, softball, and OSU football, and he took special delight in entertaining his grandchildren and great-grand- children.

Survivors also include son, Chad Chelf and wife, Keri, Cashion, Okla.; Rick Williams and wife, Alex, Colby; daughters, Lisa Williams, Colby, and Amber Williams and partner, Randie, Liberal; nine grandchildren: Colt Clark, Adyson Thomason, Abigial Majorie, Easton Chelf, Bailey Rangel, Trae Williams, Adelyn Miller, Brayden Miller, and Radley Miller; and five great-grand- children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Cody Chelf; and sister, LeaAnn Venosdel.

• Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026 at Fellowship Baptist Church at 310 W. Pancake Blvd. in Liberal, with Pastor Tyler Prater presiding.
